About Us

The JCE state-of-the-art Tribology & Biotribology Research Center is dedicated to advancing the understanding of friction, wear, and lubrication in both engineering and biological systems. With over 20 years of experience, cutting-edge equipment and interdisciplinary expertise, our research center and laboratories bridge the gap between fundamental tribological science and real-world engineering  and biomedical needs.

Key Research Areas

Biotribology

      • Biotribology & Medical Implants: Investigating friction and wear in orthopedics, spinal implants, prosthetic joints, and dental materials to enhance longevity and performance.
    • Ophthalmic Tribology: Studying lubrication mechanisms in contact lenses and artificial tear solutions to improve comfort and durability.
    • Soft Tissue & Skin Tribology: Analyzing skin friction for applications in dermatology, cosmetics, and robotics.
    • Tribological Coatings & Biomaterials: Testing advanced surface coatings to reduce wear and friction in biomedical applications.
      • Biomimetic Surfaces: Integrating biomimetic principles for innovative tribologal applications, such as self-cleaning ability, bio-inspired attachment elements and improving performance and longevity in diverse applications.

Classical Tribology

    • Classical Tribology: Research to assess friction, wear, and lubrication of engineering materials.
    • Surface Coatings: Characterization from tribological point of view, including adhesion, friction and peeling.
      • Surface characterization: Advanced analysis of roughness, hardness, and material properties to optimize tribological performance.
